Commitment

This is currently a voluntary executive leadership position requiring an expected commitment of approximately 8 to 12 hours per week, with flexibility depending on organizational priorities and activities.

The CEO is expected to participate consistently in leadership meetings, strategic planning, partnership development, fundraising, organizational oversight, and major EcoClimate Vision activities.

The position requires a strong commitment to actively leading the organization rather than serving in a title only capacity.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership and a genuine commitment to climate action and sustainable development.

Relevant experience or demonstrated ability in areas such as nonprofit leadership, climate change, environmental sustainability, international development, public policy, entrepreneurship, organizational management, fundraising, or partnership development is highly desirable.

The candidate should possess strong communication, strategic thinking, relationship building, decision making, and team leadership skills and be comfortable working with diverse teams across countries and cultures.

Performance Expectations

Performance will be assessed against agreed organizational priorities, which may include strengthening organizational governance, developing strategic partnerships, mobilizing resources, improving departmental performance, expanding programs, strengthening country operations, increasing organizational visibility, and demonstrating measurable climate and community impact.

Specific priorities and performance targets may be established annually and reviewed periodically with the Advisory Board.

Compensation and Growth

The CEO position is currently voluntary and unpaid.

EcoClimate Vision is committed to transitioning the position to a compensated role as the organization develops sufficient and sustainable financial resources.

Future compensation may be supported through approved organizational budgets, eligible personnel costs within funded projects and grants, unrestricted funding, or other appropriate organizational resources.

As EcoClimate Vision grows, the CEO may also become eligible for performance based compensation tied to predetermined organizational goals and overall performance. Compensation will not be calculated as a percentage of grants, donations, or funds raised.

Any future executive compensation will be subject to appropriate governance approval and the financial capacity of EcoClimate Vision.

Term and Accountability

The CEO is accountable to the Advisory Board for the overall leadership and performance of EcoClimate Vision and works closely with the COO and Department Directors in managing the organization.

Performance and continued appointment should be periodically reviewed to ensure that leadership remains aligned with EcoClimate Vision’s mission, values, strategic priorities, and expectations.

Who Should Consider This Role?

This opportunity is suited for a purpose driven leader who wants to help build and scale an international climate organization, is comfortable working in a growing nonprofit environment, and is motivated by the opportunity to create meaningful impact across the Global South.

The ideal candidate should be prepared to build, lead, mobilize, and execute, not simply occupy an executive title.

Interested applicants should send their CV/ resume and cover letter to careers@ecoclimatevision.org with the position as subject.
